MarcUs for Change 5K

Hello Families!

October is almost here! Where did the time go? As a friendly reminder, next Wednesday (September 27th) will be an Early Dismissal Day for all students.

For anyone interested, I thought I’d share some info on the 5th Annual MarcUs for Change 5K scheduled for October 1st at Mill River Park:

Education Foundation (SPEF) at the 5th annual MarcUS for Change 5K Walk & Run on October 1st at Mill River Park. This is a special year as it marks the 5th year we are celebrating the memory of Marcus Dixon McInerney, a young Stamford High School graduate who overcame many life challenges, before his life ended tragically in 2012.

Let’s keep the spirit of Marcus alive in our hearts: A special component of the 5K is the MarcUS for Change Spirit Award.  For the past 4 years, Stamford High School has won the cup along with a donation designated towards the school’s PTO (based on the percentage of participants vs. enrollment).  How many participants can Stillmeadow rally for October 1st?

Here’s the deal: This year we are introducing a School Participation Pack to help your school reinforce fitness, support public education and win the prestigious MarcUS for Change Spirit Award. It’s as easy as 1-2-3 to take advantage of this offer:

(1) Name a school Ambassador to coordinate with SPEF

(2) Donate $250 in honor of Marcus to support SPEF’s education programs

(3) Promote the race within your school and encourage free 5K Walk or Run registrations. Stillmeadow Elementary School’s Participation Package gives you unlimited registrations for students, teachers, administrators, and staff.
