This morning as I prepared my classroom for the day, delighted in my coffee and pretzel croissant (yes, they’re making those now), I suddenly realized: it’s poetry month!
Those of us in the teaching community, especially the lower grades, love taking this opportunity to celebrate with something called “Poem in Your Pocket.” The simple gist is encouraging children, or anyone for that matter, to carry a small poem around that may be shared among peers at any moment.
To open up the week, I thought I’d add some spur-of-the-moment words:
In memories lost
you found me still–despite a seemingly distant past.
Footprints, forever embedded
with yours.
Enjoy the rest of the day!
